Digitalise Your SME · Call 2 Open

Build It for Half the Price

Malta Enterprise part-finances up to 50% of eligible digital investment — 60% in Gozo. We design the project, write the technical documentation, build it, and hand you the evidence pack for your claim.

The Scheme

What Digitalise Your SME Is Worth

A non-repayable grant that part-finances digital investment for Maltese SMEs. Open until 31 December 2026, subject to available funds.

Minimum Grant €10,000

The smallest grant awarded. At 50% co-financing that means an eligible project of roughly €20,000 — so this suits a real build, not a brochure site.

Covered For You 50%

Up to half of eligible costs for investments in Malta, and up to 60% for investments in Gozo, under the de minimis regulation.

Maximum Grant €128,400

The ceiling per applicant, inclusive of a 7% flat rate covering indirect costs tied to the investment.

Eligibility

Do You Qualify?

The scheme is aimed at micro, small and medium enterprises carrying out an eligible economic activity, regardless of legal form. Start-ups classified as micro or small can apply too.

Most businesses that ask us this question turn out to be eligible. The harder question is whether the project is worth scoping at grant scale — and that is what the first call is for.

How It Works

You Run Your Business. We Run the Process.

Five steps from first call to funded build. The paperwork is the part most agencies avoid — it is the part we handle.

Scoping Call

Forty-five minutes to map what is slow, manual or broken, and what digitalising it would be worth.

Free

Project Design

A costed technical scope, structured around the cost categories the scheme recognises.

Free

Application

We prepare the technical documentation and quotations, and submit ahead of a cut-off date.

We Handle It

Build

On approval we design, develop, test and deploy — to the scope that was approved.

4–16 Weeks

Claim & Support

You get a complete evidence pack for the claim, then ongoing hosting and maintenance.

Ongoing

Submissions Close in Rounds

Call 2 opened on 1 July 2026, with cut-off dates roughly every 15 days until the scheme closes — subject to the budget lasting that long. A scoped project takes us about two weeks to document properly, so the sooner we start, the more rounds you have in hand.

Why Dotcom.mt

Grant Projects Need Substance

A funded application has to describe real digital capability. That is easier to write when it is genuinely being built.

Engineer-Led

We are led by a warranted engineer who writes software daily. Your project is specified by the person who will build it, not by an account manager.

We Own the Stack

Our own servers, our own backups, our own monitoring. When something needs fixing at 11pm, there is no third-party support queue between you and a solution.

Real Applications

Document management systems, client portals, custom commerce platforms. Not themes with your logo dropped in the corner.

Questions

Before You Ask

Do I have to pay the grant back?

No. Digitalise Your SME is a non-repayable grant. It part-finances the investment rather than lending against it.

Do I need the full amount up front?

Plan for it. Grants of this type are normally reimbursed against evidence of what you have actually spent, which means the cash leaves your account before it comes back. We will set out the payment schedule and the likely reimbursement timing in writing before you commit to anything, so there are no surprises in the middle of a build.

What if my project is smaller than €20,000?

Then this scheme is probably the wrong tool, and we will tell you so on the first call rather than inflating a quote to reach the threshold.

There are two honest alternatives: bundle genuinely useful work you were going to do anyway across the next two years into one project, or simply engage us directly at normal rates. Both are better than padding an application.

What do you charge to handle the application?

Scoping and the costed project design are free. The technical documentation for the application is included when you appoint us to deliver the project. We do not sell application-writing as a standalone service, because the quality of the application depends on knowing exactly what is going to be built.

What can actually be funded?

The scheme targets digital capabilities and digitalised processes — things like product and process design, end-to-end procurement, supply chain and distribution, and after-sales. In practice that covers business websites, eCommerce storefronts with payment and inventory handling, and custom web applications, alongside related hardware and software.

The exact eligible cost categories are set out in the official guidelines, and we check your specific scope against them before submitting.

What if the application is not approved?

You are under no obligation to proceed with the project. We will tell you honestly, before submission, how strong we think the case is — we would rather withdraw a weak application than spend your time on one.

Important: Dotcom.mt is a web design and software development company, not a licensed grant consultancy or tax adviser. The figures on this page are indicative and reflect published scheme parameters at the time of writing. Grant awards are made at the discretion of Malta Enterprise, and eligibility, rates, cost categories and deadlines are governed solely by the official incentive guidelines.

Confirm the current terms directly with Malta Enterprise before making any financial commitment. Where an application needs formal financial or tax advice, we will say so and work alongside your accountant or a grants specialist.
